Dr. Sanziana Roman, Professor of Surgery and Dr. Elizabeth Ozer, Professor of Pediatrics, and Director of the Faculty Equity Advisors program in the Office of Diversity and Outreach, are the recipients of the UCOP "Advancing Faculty Diversity, Improved Climate and Retention" award of $225,000 through President Napolitano's allocation to improve campus climate and retain our faculty for 2020-2022. The UCSF Department of Surgery is accepting applications for the Haile T. Debas Diversity Fellowship. All eligible medical students are invited to apply no later than June 1, 2020*. The Fellowship is offered to fourth year medical students as a sub-internship, providing the opportunity to experience first-hand the Department's multi-faceted environment of clinical excellence, inquiry, and investigation. Daniela Rebollo Salazar and Natalie Rodriguez were selected as recipients of the 2019 Haile T. Debas Diversity Fellowship. Daniela, a 4th year medical student from New York University School of Medicine, took an elective course in Advanced General Surgery - Colorectal at UCSF in September. Dr. Campbell is a Professor of Surgery in the Division of General Surgery and an attending trauma surgeon at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center (ZSFG).
